BORGONOVO 300 P EMBOSSING MACHINE: This machine has been engineered for both hot embossing and wood-paste (compo) embossing on wood. It is particularly useful for embossing on picture frames, mouldings, furniture, and other narrow work pieces. Hot embossing utilizes pressure and an engraved heated wheel to imprint a pattern on wood. The machine is equipped with a water cooled shaft to avoid flexing of the shaft and to keep heat from migrating to other parts of the machine. A propane torch heats the metal wheel. The torch can be mounted at various angles and distances to the wheel. Adjusting the gas pressure and torch allows for pressing onto harder and softer woods as well as different visual effects. In compo embossing, wood paste is placed in a hopper that uses an auger to compact the paste to a uniform consistency and apply it to the surface of the workpiece. As the workpiece advances, the engraved metal wheel embosses a pattern in the wood pulp. The excess wood pulp is trimmed and falls off to the side where it can be recycled. A motorized support roller on the underside of the workpiece helps advance the workpiece at a proportional speed to the embossing wheel to ensure precise patterns. The compo has a release agent not to stick to the wheel yet has various glues to stick to the work piece. It accepts stain, paint, and lacquers when dry. The unit is designed to maximize output through continuous feeding and heavy duty construction. The compo embossing process is capable of producing very intricate and ornate patterns. The embossing wheel can also be angled to accommodate inclined embossing. The unit also comes with a prismatic wheel to support the underside of a workpiece which allows for embossing at various angles. A third wheel supports the wing of uneven workpieces. Metal support flanges and guides help position the workpiece for exactness.
